Kansas’ third congressional district encompasses Wyandotte, Johnson and a portion of Douglas county (Lawrence, Eudora). Democrat Dennis Moore has represented the 3rd district since 1999.

The Cook Political Report has indicated that KS-3 will “Lean Republican”. This non-partisan political newsletter has rated the third district as R+3, an indication that the Republican party, based on past presidential voting percentages, is more successful in the district.Similarly, Stuart Rothenberg, in his Rothenberg Political Report, rates the third district as a “Toss Up/ Tilt Republican”.
