5 Questions for Stephene Moore

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

1.) Will you vote for Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House?

• Speaker Pelosi promised the American people that she would run the “cleanest” Congress in history, yet Charlie Rangel remained Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee despite a flagrant disregard for the rules and for the ethical standards required of a U.S. representative.
• Speaker Pelosi has deliberately rammed harmful legislation through the Congress without open debate, despite promises of transparency.
• Under the control of Speaker Pelosi, the Democrat led Congress has saddled our country with a $1.3 trillion deficit.

2.) Do you support extending the Republican Tax Cuts?

• If the Republican tax cuts expire, there will be an average household tax increase of $1,918 per family in the 3rd District.
• The expiration of the Republican Tax Cuts will harm small businesses.

3.) Do you support repealing Obamacare?

• A recent poll revealed that 60% of Americans favor repeal of health care law, and 50% say repeal would benefit economy.
• Stephene Moore told the Kansas City Star that she would have voted for the recent health care bill. “Stephene Moore announces for Congress, says she’s not entitled to seat,” Kansas City Star, 04/06/2010).

4.) Do you support repealing portions of Obamacare that slash Medicare?

• Obamacare cuts $233 billion from Medicare Part A and B payments to hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and home health agencies. Recently, the Houston Chronicle reported that 300 doctors have stopped seeing seniors and dropped out of Medicare in the last two years.

• President Obama’s chief actuary concluded that these cuts could jeopardize access to care for seniors and force roughly 15 percent of Medicare Part A providers to become unprofitable and drop out of Medicare.

5.) Do you support Card Check?

• Congressman Dennis Moore was a sponsor of this legislation in the House.
• Stephene Moore told the Kansas City Star that she too would support this business killing legislation. “Stephene Moore announces for Congress, says she’s not entitled to seat,” Kansas City Star, 04/06/2010).

The voters of the 3rd District deserve to know where both candidates stand on these crucial issues. If we are to have a frank, open and honest discussion of the issues, Stephene Moore must first make her positions known.

Kevin Yoder has made his positions clear.

Kevin Yoder’s first vote as a member of Congress will be to vote against Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House.

Kevin Yoder will fight to make the Republican Tax Cuts permanent. Raising taxes during a recession is fundamentally unwise. “We must preserve the greatest middle class tax relief in history,” said Kevin Yoder. “About half of all small-business income is reported on the individual returns of people making over $250,000 a year. We cannot forget that a lot of the people affected by the sunset of this tax relief are small businesses and the American people don’t want small businesses paying higher taxes — they want them hiring more people.”

Kevin will work to repeal portions of the Obama/Pelosi healthcare legislation that will drive up costs, increase the deficit, grow bureaucracy and lower the standards of health care that Americans expect. Kevin will work to re-write this act and build true health care reform that focuses on free market competition, patient choice and high quality of care. “I support making healthcare more affordable for all Americans,” said Kevin Yoder. “However, what I cannot support are pieces of legislation rammed through Congress that will raise our taxes, increase insurance premiums, and promise to make drastic cuts in Medicare.”

Kevin Yoder will work to repeal portions of Obamacare that slash Medicare. “Our country’s seniors deserve better than this bill,” said Kevin Yoder. “Seniors on fixed incomes are already strapped with overly burdensome healthcare and prescription drug costs. The reformation of our health care system must look out for the interests of our seniors.”

Kevin Yoder does not and will not support Card Check. “We must begin championing businesses, and legislation such as Card Check is harmful to our country’s businesses,” said Kevin Yoder. “In the midst of the worst economic climate in recent history, we must look for ways to strengthen the private sector and increase job growth.”
