YODER OFFICIALLY FILES FOR U.S. CONGRESS IN 3RD DISTRICT

Overland Park – State Representative Kevin Yoder officially filed today as a candidate for U.S. Congress in the 3rd District in Kansas. The 3rd District seat is currently held by Democrat Dennis Moore who is retiring at the end of this term. Yoder just concluded his final legislative session in Topeka, where he served as House Appropriations Chair.

“Today I am excited to announce that I am an official candidate for U.S. Congress. After the recent legislative session in Topeka, I am glad to be back at home in Johnson County and on the campaign trail full time,” Yoder said. “We have hit the ground running, spending much of our time meeting with voters across the district and listening as they voice their concerns about federal spending, deficits, unemployment and higher taxes.”

“It is clear that we are going through troubling economic times. Kansas families and businesses are adapting by tightening their belts and doing more with less; our government needs to learn to do the same. It is time to finally cut wasteful spending in Washington and bring reform and fiscal responsibility to Congress,” Yoder said.” I believe my experience balancing budgets and cutting spending in Topeka makes me uniquely qualified to rein in out-of-control federal spending. I ask the voters of Kansas’ 3rd Congressional District to join with me as we work together to bring fresh new ideas, bold leadership and fiscal reform to Washington.”

Yoder is running for the Republican nomination for the 3rd congressional district in Kansas. The 3rd district includes Johnson and Wyandotte Counties as well as parts of Douglas County. He lives in Overland Park with his wife, Brooke.
